Volubilis and Moulay Idriss Zerhoun
The ancient Roman city of Volubilis would be on a par to Pompeii if it hadn't been ransacked several times over the millenia (often to build some monument to a local god, build a new town, put an extension on a palace, that kind of thing) and if it was properly excavated and got a bit more tourist-friendly love - signs, maps, facilities, etc.
The nearby town of Moulay Idriss Zerhoun is famous mostly for being the site upon which Moulay Idriss (the person) apparently introduced Islam to Morocco in 789AD, thereby defining, one way or another, pretty much every aspect of modern Morocco society.
